Significant Investment In Our E-coat Facility
Early in 2016 Plastic Coatings Ltd made the decision to invest in plant and equipment to improve the reliability, appearance and quality of our E-coat facility.
Plastic Coatings Ltd have been applying E-coat (or electrophoretic paint) since 2004. We have successfully built a customer base in demanding supply chains and have an excellent record for service and product quality. In order to maintain that reputation we realised that we either needed a robust contingency plan or investment in key areas to reduce or eliminate the risk of significant breakdowns and lost production time.
We have now completed the main stage of the improvement costing more than £300k. This investment will further improve the aesthetics of our paint finish and will also increase reliability of the plant, whilst enabling us to continue to offer one of the most responsive E-coat services in the UK.
The investment includes…
- Multi metal treatments that will allow us to pre-treat and E-coat ferrous, non-ferrous and plated substrates.
- A new curing oven that will allow us to process components with greater thermal mass.
- A longer paint tank, giving better internal paint coverage on complex parts.
- Alterations to pipe work and pump arrangements to allow critical spares to sit ‘ready to run’ and reduce the recovery time in the case of a breakdown situation.
- Removal of internal walls to allow a manufacturing 'cell' approach to plant layout.
And from an environmental point of view…
- Energy efficient lighting throughout the manufacturing space.
- New filtering systems, including reverse osmosis demineralised water generation.
- Sludge presses for treating process waste.
This investment allows us to continue supporting our customers with fast turn around and high quality product, while creating significant capacity for new opportunities.
